SUPPORTING LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL NGOs

In our strategic approach to protect and impact positively the Congolese environment, we are offering support at some strategic organizations, with a focus remaining in environment conservation and upliftment of lives.

J.A.C.K Foundation

Jeunes Animaux Confisqués au Katanga (J.A.C.K.) is a primate sanctuary in the DRC that was established in 2006. The founders, Franck & Roxane Chantereau, set up the sanctuary to save gorillas and chimpanzees from the brink of extinction. The NGO works to create a safe space for the well-being of 75 animals that include 36 rescued chimpanzees, 31 small primates, and 8 bush babies through appropriate nutrition, round-the-clock care, and medication. Although the foundation witnessed difficulties in the pandemic with the rising food costs and operational issues, their work has continued with increased efforts by a small and dedicated team. The sanctuary works towards the protection of primates from poaching, illegal wildlife trade, and transmissible diseases.

We played an important role in the financial aid (medication, medical equipment, lab equipment) to ensure the best care was offered without compromise. The “Bees Project” is another such initiative by the J.A.C.K. foundation aided by us to cater to the large quantities of honey required for the diet of the great apes. The organization aims to conserve and increase the numbers of the magnificent primates in the DRC through concentrated efforts in this region.

The Vinmart Foundation has actively participated in the monthly contribution towards the J.A.C.K. foundation. With the growth in the numbers of primates at the enclosure (71 in total from Lubumbashi, Zimbabwe), expenditures were also rising. The donations were directed towards management of the monthly expenses for staff, food, equipment, veterinary care (consultation and lab analysis), medicines, and more. We also contributed to the construction of 11 enclosures for the safety and security of the premises.

GEORGE MALIAKA FOUNDATION (G.M.F)

The George Malaika foundation is founded by Noella Coursaris Musunka who started the organization to provide access to education, water and healthcare to empower an entire community in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

George Malaika Foundation and Vinmart Foundation and the has been working closely on providing education mainly to girls of the community so as to not only to empower them but also work towards their upliftment in the future.

ORPHANAGE

Vinmart Foundation is also supporting an orphanage named as BUMI based in Lubumbashi through financial assistance on monthly basis. We also provide training regarding farming techniques to the children aged between 12-17 years to ensure that they are self-dependent in the future.

OLD AGE HOME

The foundation is also associated with an old age home in Lubumbashi through timely donations for food and other necessities to bring a smile to this vulnerable segment in the region.
